A blank canvas

Sometimes you just kind of feel that it’s time for something new. I felt like that a while now. I thought changing from blogging in Dutch to blogging in English would fill the void I was experiencing. But it really didn’t. I realized it was time for a completely new blank canvas. And that is why I started this new blog. A fresh new place for me to put my thoughts on.

How I figured this out? It’s actually quite odd. I was browsing around for some new fonts, which I occasionally do. I found one that I truly loved. So I went to Photoshop and put my blog name, Bella Mondo, in that font. It didn’t really look as good as I thought it would, whereas everything else I’d put in that font looked gorgeous. That’s what got me thinking about my blog name in the first place. After a while, I realized that the name Bella Mondo didn’t really suit me anymore. And I started thinking about other options. But honestly, that’s one of the hardest things to do. You have to make sure that the name is something you will love for a long while to come – which you have no idea of knowing beforehand, you have to find something that suits you and your blog, and something that is easy to pronounce. But the main problem was actually domain registration. I had a couple of options that I liked, but they were all already registered. Which simply meant I had to scratch them off my list. The worst thing really! Finding a name you really like, and then finding out that you can’t actually use it.

After all the name drama, I started thinking… maybe renaming my blog is not enough?! Maybe I should just start something completely new. And that is what I did. But then that is just the beginning. Because then I had to decide what I wanted it to look like, what kind of blog I wanted it to be, what kind of content I would put on and so on. Especially the design gave me some nightmares. Because I am quite the perfectionist and with things like this, especially with blog design, I just want it to look perfect. And to be honest I’m not easily pleased. I mean, the amount of times I changed the design of my old blog… probably countless. Yes, I’m crazy like that. So I really didn’t know what to do. Would I code something myself – which I’m not that good at, let a professional handle it, or buy a pre build theme.

I opted for the latter because I found something that I really loved and it was just cheaper than letting someone else do it. I genuinely hope that I will love the look and feel of my blog for a while to come and that I don’t go back to my old ways of changing time and time again. I’ve gone for a soft pink colour scheme, which I absolutely adore, and a simple logo. Soft pink is really on trend right now, and I couldn’t help but getting on board with the trend. I just love it. It’s actually called ‘millennial pink’, how crazy is that. It’s a thing, and I didn’t even know this when I first picked the colour. I did think it would be a little bit too pink and too girly, but then I thought, nope I like it, this is going to be it. So there you have it!

I’m really looking forward to this new chapter in my blogging career. Building this blog has been a lot of work and I’m so glad it’s finally here for the world to see it. I’ve been itching to show it to you all and to just tell everyone. I hope you all like it as much as I do.
