I had been looking forward to this for months, and last Wednesday the time had finally come… I went to see Harry Styles perform live in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. And I have to say, I think this might have been the very best concert I’ve ever been to! It was absolutely incredible, and I’m actually a little sad that it’s over.
Honestly, this was a whole different concert. Which also had a lot to do with the audience. I mean, some people were already at the venue – sleeping on the street – on Monday! Wow, well thát is dedication. I would never ever do that myself though. At the night itself it was very clear that I was going to go home slightly deaf… I have never heard people screaming so loud. Even before the concert had started people were screaming. When Mabel, who did the pre-show, called Harry’s name the crowd went mad. It was quite the experience.
Also, I’ve told you before that I never was a One Direction fan right… well, he did some One Direction songs during the concert as well. The first notes of Stockholm Syndrome sounded and the crowd just exploded. EVERYONE seemed to know the lyrics, well not me! I was standing there like OK, I have no idea what this song is… whoops. He also did If I could fly and What Makes You Beautiful, that last one was the only one that I actually knew.
He performed his whole album, which was really cool. Obviously, there was more than enough room for this since he only has 10 songs – so far. I sing along to every single one of them and it was amazing. From the moment I heard the album for the first time I knew I wanted to hear him sing it live. I just knew that these songs would be so good live, and I wasn’t mistaken!
A couple of songs in he told us that there were some songs that didn’t end up on the album. You can imagine the response of the crowd to this. He also said that he was going to perform two of these songs. I already knew this, but I didn’t listen to them beforehand because I really wanted to experience it live. And honestly, these songs are so so good. The first one was called Medicine, which is my favourite of the two. The second one is called Anna – or at leas that’s what most people think. He didn’t actually mention the title. Anna is a fun uplifting song, which I really liked as well. Honestly, I can’t wait for Harry to release the studio versions of these two… (you can hear a little bit of both of the songs in a video at the end of this blogpost)
All in all the concert was absolutely perfect, from the moment he came on to the stage until he left. He is such a charmer and an entertainer. He really tries to interact with the crowd which I found really nice. And besides that, he’s just a really really good singer. Honestly, it sounded almost the same as the studio versions and he can really hit all those high notes. It was also really nice to see how much fun he was having up on that stage, obviously, that transfers onto the crowd as well.
Also, I have to talk about his outfit. I mean, if someone else would be wearing this outfit, I would have probably found it a ridiculous outfit. But somehow it suits Harry – quite literally. I don’t know what it is, but almost everything looks good on him. And I guess it’s just nice. He just wears whatever the hell he wants to, no matter what anyone else thinks. I applaud that!
I filmed some bits of the concert as well. I just love having that to look back on. So here it is. I apologize for the sound, it’s kinda bad sometimes. I think it’s just because the music was really really loud, which my camera’s microphone couldn’t really handle. I think it’s still really good though. Watching this footage back makes me relive the whole thing again and again ♥
I honestly wish I could go to this concert again. If – or hopefully when – he comes back to The Netherlands I am definitely going to try and get tickets. What a man, what a singer, what an entertainer!
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
